Thank you, all who have signed the petition so far.

After Steve Walsh apparently said that he was afraid of being scapegoated, it became evident that the issue is broader. Newspapers were using "cub scouts leader" in their headlines even though as far as I know, he had not been to any scouting meetings since his return to the UK. So that's an attempt at panic-mongering on the part of the media.

Sensible caution is good. Panic is not.

The UK's 9th patient (a Chinese woman) has been blamed in the media for having gone to a hospital when she suspected she had the Covid-19 virus. What else was she supposed to have done? Stand on her head? Dance the hokey-pokey?

It also sounds a little bit like she is being blamed for having taken an Uber. She chose the quickest and least risky way to get herself to the right place. Had she walked or taken the tube, she would have encountered many more people along the way.

The fact that there was no signage at the hospital that told her where exactly she should go is the hospital management's fault, certainly not hers, but like most hospitals in the UK, it is likely understaffed so maybe the hospital's management is not to blame either.

Several others seem to have reported that they received contradictory instructions. It is my understanding that Walsh had to decide something along the lines of "sod it, I am not getting anywhere with these fools, so I will have to get this sorted myself" and he did.

The blond and very fit-looking Englishman had been to Singapore, contracted the virus there, went on to France (to ski) where he unwittingly infected 11 others, then apparently returned to the UK with 5 of those.

By contrast, NONE of the people who were evacuated from China and then quarantined tested positive for the virus. 83 were released yesterday and more will be released on Saturday.

For those in the UK, this petition is also available on 38Degrees:

Have a wonderful day, and weekend.
