Dear President, Dr. Vicki J. Martin, and MATC administration:

In the wake of the recent presidential election, we - Milwaukee Area Technical College students, faculty, staff, and alums and MATC stakeholders - call for you to implement a plan to declare all of our campuses sanctuaries for undocumented and DACAmented students, staff, and their family members who face imminent deportation.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers cannot enter MATC campuses without permission of the college , which means MATC can protect undocumented individuals ( https://www.ice.gov/doclib/ero-outreach/pdf/10029.2-policy.pdf ).

Given that many students and their family members now live in fear of deportation threats, we urge the Milwaukee Area Technical College to immediately develop a protocol to establish itself as a sanctuary campus and a strict policy to maintain all of our students immigration information completely private -specially to external institutions such as ICE.

MATC must take these actions in order to assert its commitments to defend our students and to create an optimal, and safe, environment for learning. We demand the Milwaukee Area Technical College upholds its values of diversity, justice, and respect for our common humanity.
