A bill in the Massachusetts Legislature, H.2007, seeks to eliminate youth tackle football in Massachusetts through grade 7. 

We know youth football programs have worked diligently over the last several years to dramatically improve the safety of youth football. Robust training of administrators, staff, coaches, parents, and players all seek to teach kids the proper playing techniques to prevent head injuries and other injuries.  Dangerous plays have been removed from the game, public safety personnel are present at games, and concussion protocols have been put in place for player safety.  Players are being trained to take their heads out of plays to keep themselves safe. 

We also know that head injuries can happen in any sport our children play. We believe it is wrong to target youth football. We also believe that the decision on whether or not to play youth football belongs to parents, not state government.
