The story mode in Super Smash Bros. Brawl drew a ton of gamers in, and removing it in the next game makes no sense. Not only does it enrage a lot of Smash Bros. fans, it also doesn't make sense from a marketing perspective. Masahiro Sakurai's reasoning behind his decision also makes little sense. I have therefore created a petition where Smash fans can unite together to bring back the story mode from Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
