Vic Oyedeji here.
A few months ago, you joined me on a major campaign asking Maroon 5, Travis Scott, and Big Boi to boycott the Super Bowl Halftime Show in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick.
Do you remember that?
I’m sure you also remember, despite our 117,000+ signatures, those artists still performed.
But don’t take that as a failure.
The petition you signed helped taint the Super Bowl halftime stage for future artists to come. That is something we’re very proud of.
Never before in Super Bowl history did a music artist face that much scrutiny to perform. The NFL even had to cancel their pre-show press conference, just to avoid talking about it.
This petition made it happen. You helped make history.
I want to ask you to help do it again.
If you’re like me, you’re just tired of how the NFL treats its athletes. From anthem punishments, to lack of marijuana treatments, and so on --- it seems the powers that be feel like they can do whatever they want. They know people can’t tune away from the league.
So let’s change that.
There’s a brand new league coming in Spring 2020. It’s called The Freedom Football League. Press play on the video above to see what it’s about.
I want you to support this new league because:
- They actually allow more freedom for the players.
- It’s legit.
- It’s collectively owned by the players and fans.
That final point is key. The NFL is owned by less than 40 families. That’s too much concentrated power by a league that made $8.1 million in revenue last season.
This needs to change. The Freedom Football League completely changes that.
