What's going on everyone.
Thanks to your signatures, coverage for this petition has reached multiple media outlets such as Billboard, The Hill, TMZ, Complex, NME, The Insider, and more. In addition, Colin Kapernick's camp Know Your Rights caught wind on this and promoted it on their social media accounts, and even Kaepernick's partner Nessa told people to sign.
Just a few days ago E! News did a twitter poll and asked "do you think Maroon 5 should drop out of the Super Bowl Halftime Show"? As of right now:
- 41% said "Yes"
- 59% said "No"
But our voice is being heard!
This past Friday, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine appeared on Ellen and was asked if he's performing during the Super Bowl (although not specifically mentioning our petition).
His response:
"It’s a rumor. I can neither confirm nor deny the truth of this rumor. It’s definitely a rumor.
And the rumor’s a rumor that everyone seems to be discussing. It’s the Super Bowl. It’s a great event and there’s gonna be a band performing… or an artist of some kind performing at halftime. And it’s gonna be great, regardless of who it is."
So there you have it. They haven't officially said yes. They haven't officially said no. But one thing they can't deny, however, is that the conversation of our petition is GROWING each day.
So share this petition. Tell your friends. Let them know the cause, which is to protest how the NFL treated Colin Kaepernick and to follow Amy Schumer, Jay-Z & Rihanna's lead of not joining any upcoming Super Bowl events.
