REMOVE DR. BERNETTA JONES AS REGIONAL SUPERINTENDENT!

The Issue

We are demanding that Dr. Bernetta Jones, Region 7 Superintendent, be removed from this leadership position. Since assuming this role she has abused her power and has not exhibited the skills, maturity and positive attitude needed to oversee a school region. Her communication is unprofessional, narcissistic and often times discriminatory, specifically against male employees. Instead of supporting the male employees, she continuously undermines their authority and emasculates them in their positions.

She has been in this leadership role only 2 years and has already fired two male principals and been suspended for making discriminatory comments to male employees. The suspension, which occurred back in June, was because she held a meeting with all Region 7 principals where she went around the room and gave feedback to each principal individually. When she commented on a female principal, she told everyone how the female was doing a great job. Then she turned to the male principals and told them “ya’ll need to grow some (XXX)” so that they can be great like the female. She does not value her male employees nor manage from a positive angle therefore how can they conceptualize positive leader attributes if they are not supported by their boss.

She is also currently attempting to remove the principal at Cedar Grove High School (CGHS), a male principal who is out on sick leave. Removing a principal is a huge change to a school environment and affects faculty, students and parents. Instead of her developing a change action plan for Cedar Grove and being emotionally sensitive to ease fears during the transition, she continues to lack empathy & be verbally abusive to the CGHS faculty. Just last week, she held an emergency faculty meeting at the school and scolded them about rumors she heard. How can the faculty and staff be effective in teaching the students if they are not being supported and fearful about their future employment under her leadership.

Dr. Jones has consistently exemplified behavior which discriminates against male employees in leadership roles and this cannot be tolerated.  

We ask that you sign this petition and demand that Dr. Jones be removed as Superintendent to stop the discrimination.
