Because of the issue with the certificate filings, this has robbed many parents of the initial joy of celebrating parenthood together with their partners. A few examples of issues they have faced are:

• Having to legally adopt their own child
• Having the birth certificate end up wrong 
• Being told there isn't another option
• Encountering staff and others who don't know how to change it
• Going through multiple rounds of paperwork just to get it correct on the birth certificate

THIS IS 2021!!! This should not be an issue. This is NOT equality. These obstacles are prime examples of additional barriers and hoops that same-sex couples have to jump through, just during the birth of their children. We need to DEMAND equality for all!
