Hello all - hope you are all well and coping with this lockdown.

I have some exciting news for you all. National Express West Midlands are running the Cannock section on Sundays from tomorrow (21st March 2021) every 30 minutes! This means people in Cannock, Great Wyrley and Landywood will have a 7 day link to Bloxwich, Walsall and Birmingham. In addition to this, the route will change to provide the Turnberry Estate in Bloxwich with a Sunday service and new links to the Orbital Retail Centre and McArthurGlen Designer Outlet (when it is open). Unfortunately Bridgtown will lose out but I've been in touch with Chaserider on their behalf.

Before Christmas I made a freedom of information request to Staffordshire County Council to find out how much of the government 'Supported Bus Fund' they had applied for and how they will use it. This information can be found here - https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/supported_bus_services_202021 - last week Boris Johnson announced further funding for buses.

Finally you'll have noticed Arriva Cannock have been bought by D&G with a new brand Chaserider. They are reviewing the network and have asked some questions and made some suggestions on behalf of the Great Wyrley & Cheslyn Hay Community Group and wider South Staffs community. Fingers crossed they can put some well needed investment into Cannock and Stafford.

I hope you find this update useful and I shall continue to update you on any major positive news.

Lee Murphy (Chairman, Great Wyrley & Cheslyn Hay Community Group).
