Last night Townships Board of Supervisors Meeting

Thank you, all for signing this petition. The petition along with other supporting documents was delivered to the BOS last night and asked to be part of the minutes recorded. They said that the ball is in the court of the school, it's like playing volleyball with these boards. Even though the township has the authority to resolve a serious safety issue. I was told that Mr. Hammer, the township manager, is meeting, again, with Mr. Gallagher and Mr. Brong from the school today. Grey Godshall said, maybe they have too many kids driving to school, that maybe only seniors should drive. I really hope they don't go down that "route". Punishing the students, again, for poor planning of the high school. He also said, too much focus is being placed on Halteman Road gate. Of course, this was all said AFTER the meeting, so there is no record of it. He also said, that the school never included any traffic study with their Land Development Agreement. Even though one was conducted in Sept of 04 and was extremely expensive. So, why would the school conduct such a costly study, without submitting it to the township? That doesn't make sense. I spoke to a Penn Dot representative, he looked at the high school campus and its surrounding roads and in his professional opinion said that there is no reason why Halteman Road couldn't be used. It has good sight distance and is wide enough to handle the traffic. He said that a traffic study and a new Land Development agreement is ridiculous. Also, he suggested that a new road could go through to Allentown Road. I said that would cut through the pumpkin patch of a farmer, so I don't think that would work, but it would be a great alternative. This is the problem, when you put a large campus in a residential area, with one road that is inadequately equipped to handle the volume. My gut tells me, nothing will happen with Hatleman Road gate, they will develop every parcel of land surrounding the high school before making any changes to it. I hope I am wrong, but only time will tell.
