On June 11, 2018, the Dutchess County Legislature voted 13-10 to allow pay raises for county elected officials to be increased in non-election years. All democratic legislators opposed the law. Currently, the law requires any pay changes to happen during an election year so they must face the voters immediately after the decision.

Making this change reduces accountability by providing more time between the decision to raise the salary and election day in the hopes that the voter won't remember what was done.

We call on Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro to CHANGE HIS MIND and VETO this local law.
