Just when it looked like the Canadian government couldn't possibly be more unreasonable about this case, the latest letter was sent. The lawyer that notarized Widlene's original guardianship document, evidently, passed away in 2014. In a twist that could only be expected in a low budget sci-fi, Immigration Canada has asked the Earle family to locate everyone involved and reconstruct the entire document from scratch... 9 years later! This would involve assembling 8-10 people, several lawyers, and translators and travelling hundreds of kilometers to do so. This is absolutely unreasonable and outrageous. Some supporters of the cause have now stepped up and started a GoFundMe page to finance getting Widlene to a country where she can be safe. If you are able to contribute, the family would greatly appreciate it. In the meantime, please take a minute and share this petition so that we can keep the pressure on the Canadian government to do the right thing.
