The Executive Board's Response...

Tonight, the Executive Committee viewed and considered our petition. They are meeting on Tuesday, August 9 to discuss the petition. For allowing us to move forward, I thank them.
However, their message to us was loud and clear. Out of the thousands of people who responded and signed the petition, they are only considering about 150 signatures to be valid. They are questioning the validity and authenticity of the signatures. For the moment, they are completely disregarding the signatures we received on change.org. To the citizens of this country who signed the petition, tonight, your voice didn't matter to them. To the key leaders in our community who were elected to public office who signed the petition, tonight, your voice didn’t matter. To those in position of power in our community who have signed, tonight, your voice did not matter. However, I say, it is power by number and power by credibility.
We have board members like Sherry Abitz who don’t care about this community. Her email response spoke for itself. How many others on the board share this attitude? This entire board is saying a few hundred citizens don't matter. They are saying they are above us. I am calling on each and every one of you to take action. Contact your local media. If you live in Marathon County, contact your board supervisor. You matter. Your voice matters. Together, our voices do matter. We will not be silenced.
