Allow Maple Lawn Residents to keep Basketball Hoops in the Back Alleys

0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!

As a PE teacher I can say with certainty that all kids should be getting at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day. Unfortunately, the HOA is forcing residents to remove their basketball hoops. Not only is playing basketball a great workout but it is also good for children's social and emotional health as well. I have witnessed kids enjoying themselves all across Maple Lawn playing basketball in the alleys with their friends and it has given them the opportunity to make new friends. Additionally, basketball is one of the safest activities to play in the alley and it allows parents to monitor their children. Very similar neighborhoods (Kentlands and Lakelands) do not place restrictions on basketball hoops in alleys and they have been around for close to 30 years. Please sign this petition and join me at the Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday at 7pm in the clubhouse in order for the true voice of the community to be heard. I will be requesting the Board removes its outdated language on basketball hoops from the bylaws. Please include your address so the Board knows you are part of the Maple Lawn Community. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at 301-351-0205.
