Dear Supporters, I've decided to close the petition at this time. Vance, who ran unopposed on the official ballot, was re-elected. In response to the widespread criticism of his office's failure to prosecute Weinstein, he has tried to blame the people who work for him. The way to prevent future Vances is for ordinary people to be involved in state and local politics. I was President of a local Democratic club, and we did not endorse Vance when he originally ran for DA; we endorsed one of his opponents. Unfortunately, most New Yorkers don't bother to vote in local elections or find out information about the candidates. Without more citizen involvement we will see more of the same. I strongly encourage all of you to research your local and state elected officials and candidates, and to consider getting involved in local political organizations, and to even consider running for office yourself once you have made the necessary connections in local organizations. We still live in a democracy, but democracy is being undermined by apathy. Vance should not have been the sole candidate on the ballot. Also, more feminists with law degrees need to seek positions as judges and District Attorneys. Thank you for your support.
