The need for cameras to expose with is happening in the shadows and what is hidden that is harming the most vulnerable in society...
It seems crazy that a childcare worker, trained and police checked can abuse 91 children in childcare centres for 15 years and not be caught. Now facing 1623 charges. Yet when one of the managers of the ten childcare centres in Queensland tried to have the worker called out and put in trouble the parents there were angry with her and said they would want him back and give him a box of chocolates because they liked him and thought he was a good childcare worker. They were loyal to him and reviled the manager for speaking up and another worker who told her she suspected him with the children building forts and having blankets and mattresses. (current affair Channel nine August 2023)
Still the parents wouldn’t listen and it was their own children who were being abused at this time -many under the age of five years old – horrific - not sure how these parents feel now. When this childcare workers crimes of rape and sex abuse came to light the manager who had tried to remove the perpetrator was sacked by her own organization and the parents blamed her for not doing something to stop this abuse of their children. How hypocritical – parents are the first line of defence for their children – a divine protection if you like and after that we entrust them especially the vulnerable in disabilities to those who care for them but no one will love your child like you do so the parents must be vigilant and call out any sense of wrong happening or ill treatment of their vulnerable one – in the childcare case it was small children who could not speak up or would not even understand what was happening to them. A gross crime against a small child. It should never happen. The manager also said the system needs to change in childcare in Australia noting Borucki believes state and territory governments need to urgently address system failures.
"As a very first step I don't believe any educator should be left with children by themselves," she said.
Childcare regulations in Australia currently allow a single educator to monitor children on their own at opening and closing time.
Staff ratios for children over three permit one adult to care for up to 11 children.
"I don't believe it is actually safe," Borucki said
It happens in disabilities too, with many clients loaded onto one worker, who become stressed or puts the children at risk, and I found when my son was assaulted to his head and to his arm the next time with deep bruises, other parents did not want to know that it was true, especially when it happened at NADO day program as they did not want to jeopardize the services for their children and did not care what happened to mine. It will come back to bite them one day. If you let wrong happen to others in front of your eyes it could come back to your own life. When people refuse to speak up or stand up because they just want to have a nice happy life. BE sure it will be interrupted one way or another.
The manager of the childcare centre tried to have the childcare predator removed from a childcare centre because of her suspicions. The organization just covered it up the parents backed the predator not knowing of the 391 cases of abuse he was carrying out to small children all girls. Some of those children are now grown up and have found out what has happened to them they have shock and trauma no doubt from just finding out what was hidden from them and their own parents.
If we turn a blind eye the problem will not go away we must listen to our gut instinct as parents and speak up or reject those we think are doing wrong to our children even adult children especially the non verbal in disabilities. Many parents don’t want the trouble of checking on what is happening to their children and will live to regret it as these childcare parents now are who had the shock of finding their beautiful child was abused while the parent was happily at working enjoying themselves and career. No amount of compensation will make it go away.
Just because a worker seems to keep your kid happy doesn’t mean they are doing the right things especially if your child cannot tell you what is happening or have no way of understanding any of it. All the money in the world cannot buy back a child’s safe world being threatened and broken. One of the workers recently said to me ( I will only get one on one workers now even when James is in a group he has his own worker) you shouldn’t worry everything is fine. They try to think you are the anxious parent - wait a minute I said remember James was attacked by his workers at other places – this worker could not comprehend it and didn’t want to, but it happened – its not about being anxious but it is about be vigilant to have health and safety laws and protection of those who cannot protect themselves. It is a very real threat. Gaslighting the parents who question an organization is just another ploy to cover up any thing that is happening in a disability program or house.
Similar, to disabilities all that matters is the business and the money and what happens to the children is beside the fact. When I talk to providers they always want to make bookings, talk money, rarely do they ever talk about the care for James. I send instructions I make sure the workers are reading them (they hardly ever do) the disability providers want to make the money out of our children but do not think about the quality of worker they are giving us. The standards need to be lifted of workers who work with such vulnerable complex persons who are so reliant on who care for them.
Parents, some of who have found out what happened to their children are launching a class action against the childcare centres. However, the damage is done now. This man only got found out because he posted his abuse deeds on the dark web and the police caught him. The manager who had tried to report him said the police came but did not investigate his house or devices when she first reported the worker. Again, it is the cameras that catch the truth of a crime being committed. If policer don’t investigate how will we find evidence of what we suspect or sense or see in my son’s case bruises, punches and hits to the head? The police would not investigate either put it off or straight up refused to. They should be investigating all cases in the interests of the public and most vulnerable or they are not carrying out justice at all.
The ‘Killer nanny’ in America, Louise Woodward, of which a three week series is running on Australian Tv shows how the girl was a ‘teen’ nanny (Daily Mail Feb 2022) https://www.dailymail.co.uk/.../Killer-nanny-Louise
The prosecutors noted that she lost her temper, after not coping with the stress of looking after an 8 month old boy - she was frustrated at not being able to stay out late and party and was sleeping in – the parents of the boy she was looking after told her to do better - she lost it instead, the little boy was shaken and slammed on the ground with a crack to his skull, and the nanny called an ambulance. Then accused of murder which changed to manslaughter, but she was so young and pretty and there were people were on her side, really she was 19 years old - she is accused of shaking the baby in her care while the both parents also only young 30 year olds, both were out working as doctors in an affluent area of Boston, Massachusetts. Parents leave their most precious person in the hands of those they do not really know without adding extra protections is very risky. I am always wary of the very young workers in disabilities no matter how nice and caring they claim to be - words are cheap – you must always check on those who look after your children.
IN the end, for this little baby boy who died, without cameras the family could not get justice for their baby son who had his life support turned off, as no one really knew if the nanny actually did kill him or it was some kind of misadventure - maybe she shouldn’t have been working as a nanny she was from Cheshire UK and in America with little support, she liked the night life, she was young. Looking after children is stressful and only a mother who really cares about her child can put in that kind of work and sacrifice while others reject it and go to work and don’t want to do the heavy slog of a young child. Getting a nanny who is not mature enough to handle the kind of work involved with a baby is setting up a situation of risk. Parents don’t want to know that though until something happens again like the childcare centres in Australia recently revealed. Parents are the first line of protection. That Nanny only got 276 days in prison in the end for the death of the little boy as nothing could be conclusive, (where was the nanny cam?) now she is in her early forties and has her own child and says she deserves to enjoy life now. Really? I don’t know how she could shut off what happened with the little boy, especially if she was guilty (no one else was with the baby boy only her) but some people are such narcissists they do not care what has happened to someone else and feel nothing for those they have hurt or destroyed not even those in their care. It is a job, and that is all. They have no empathy so do not feel for anyone else but themselves. Without the CCTV it could not be proven beyond reasonable doubt that she killed the boy in her duty of care as a nanny. It seems a sad lack of justice.
We are not living in a third world country yet we see the worst abuses still happening here in Australia and America especially against those children and adults with disabilities, the most vulnerable.
The ‘The sound of freedom’ movie now out exposes the sex trafficking of children
https://www.vanityfair.com/.../sound-of-freedom-child
The biggest child trafficking customer is USA amongst rich Americans who can pay for anything - it is the rich exploiting the poor once again. NO one cares especially if the kids come from poor families – if a child goes missing from a middle class family you never here the end of it – but poor people they don’t matter. As the hero Tim Ballard the actual agent who started an anti-trafficking organization and has made many rescues of children, his character says in the movie – “God’s children are not for sale” and I so agree with that. The investigations always start with visits to the dark web by the police investigators and so there is reliance on cameras to catch the crime and the criminals. We need those cameras for disabilities also to protect and keep our children safe and expose bad workers in disabilities and in childcare. To save the children – in The Sounds of Freedom, the hero of the story is a real person who did rescue children from trafficking, a real hero, although the story is made up for film, however many children are trafficked and the may never be seen again once taken. There is extreme reliance on cameras and internet to fight the crimes against children and stop them being used in trafficking. CCTV is a must for the most vulnerable whether they are young children or those non verbal in disabilities - to protect from harm and deter the criminals or actually catch them out and stop the harm.
Reducing children to a commodity is the worst crime you can do in this ever-darkening world we must not let it happen not even in disabilities to the vulnerable and the least in society- they should not be treated as commodities by the providers - and if anyone harms them woe betide they will pay one day and we must make sure such persons are caught and brought to justice not allowed to keep harming or abusing. Only people who stand up can stop it and change things, and parents most of all need to stand up for their own child.
