Update from Oct. 16th meetings

On Oct. 16th I returned to the Capital annex building to meet again with legislators. Representative Decker (Shelby County) spent nearly 45 minutes with me and was compassionate in listening to my grievances. She is an attorney by profession and agreed with my policy recommendations that would ensure that all parties are provided due process. She provided me with some suggestions to consider when talking to other legislators and her advice was much appreciated.
The following meeting was with Rep. Mark Hart who works in the EMS field and we were joined with Rep. Felicia Rabourn who is my district representative. Without providing details, Rep. Hart indicated that there are lots of problems and he is working on a bill to address the issues. He had nothing positive to say about the Cabinet for Health and Family Services and I gathered that this might be an overhaul of the current system in place and they haven't done their job in investigating and handling complaints. I shared details about the handling and outcome of my complaint and the reason why I am advocating for the policy changes. He told me to email him the items that I seek to have added and he would try to get them included in this larger bill he is drafting. I will keep a close eye on the bill and will continue to stay in touch with him since he appears to be the person who will sponsor the bill.
The petition continues to grow and I am approaching 200 signatures. Thank you for your support! Please continue to share this petition on your group fb pages because there is obviously a problem and we all deserve transparency, accountability, and due process pertaining to EMS complaints.
