UPDATE ON GUS GUS
After spending 2 nights in the amazing Cameron and Greig in Milnathort under the care of Euan, Gus went to East Neuk veterinary practice this afternoon to see the vet surgeon. He was able to urinate and defecate earlier today for the first time, which is something the vet was worried about as he wasn’t able to do this to start with. This is a good sign and shows he has bladder, anal and tail tone. He’s also purring his head off🤣
Tomorrow (providing there are no other issues found by the vets), Gus will be undergoing spinal surgery to realign his hips and hopefully fix the break. During the surgery, he will have metal screws inserted to try and keep his bones where they should be. He will recover initially in the vet hospital before coming home for 6 weeks of cage rest.
The complete prognosis is still uncertain as it is a major, risky, surgery. However, the vet surgeons are hopeful that he will be able to recover and, in time, eventually go back to being the cuddly, naughty boy we know. Please wish, pray, or whatever it is that you do to help Gus get through this with ease.
I want to say two things.
Firstly, thank you so much to every single person who has signed my petition, shared it with others and donated to get it spread far and wide. It means so much and I will not stop until something is done about this issue. Cats deserve the same respect as dogs and I will continue to fight for this. I have been in touch with MSP’s, councillors, the first minister and the media.
Secondly, to those who have argued against my petition or made rude comments, we don’t want to hear it. Nobody asked for your opinion, and it’s clear you’ve never had to go through the heartbreak and torture of losing a pet after a driver leaving them on the road to die. Once you’ve been through that come back to me.
I will provide another update on Gus after his surgery is complete and he is home🤞🏻
Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for every single well wish, signature, share and donation!! Please keep it going and let’s continue building signatures to strengthen this petition - https://www.change.org/makeitthelawtostopforcats
Lots of love
Freya and Gus Gus xx
