We are a week into this cause, and Rome wasn't built in a day. I'm so grateful to those who have shared the petition and if you haven't done already please can you do so. It is estimated that every day almost 30 women attempt suicide as a result of experiencing domestic abuse and every week three women take their own lives.

Domestic abuse often doesn't stop when the victim decides to leave, from personal experience this mental and verbal abuse continued for months even after I'd left. 71 phone calls in 24 hours despite being asked by the police to leave me alone. Tens of threatening messages. Even showing up at my then safe place and attempting to gain entry. This could have been prevented I feel if there was the registry in place as my abuser was well known to police forces across the UK for domestic violence allegations. The registry could have been a huge deterrent for repeat offending in my case.
