We are making great progress towards getting legislators to see how important the radon gas issue is! We need each and every one of you to sign this petition. Kids are spending up to 12 years in a building or on a property that could have high levels of radon gas which is the #1 cause of lung cancer among never smokers. Something that has a simple fix!
I am a survivor. A survivor of lung cancer caused by radon gas, despite never having smoked a single cigarette in my life. The upper left lobe of my lung was removed due to this silent killer, which had infiltrated my home at levels equivalent to smoking a pack of cigarettes daily—far exceeding the EPA recommended guideline of 4 picocuries.
Radon is not just any gas; it's the number one cause of lung cancer among never-smokers, as stated by the U.S. Surgeon General. Yet only 13 states currently require radon testing in schools where our children spend at least five hours each day for twelve years.
This is not just about me—it's about protecting our children and future generations from this invisible threat that lurks undetected in many schools across our nation. It's time we take action and demand that federally mandated Radon Gas Testing be implemented in every school across all states.
We cannot afford to wait until more lives are affected or lost due to this preventable health risk. Let us stand together for the safety and health of our children—our future—and sign this petition today!
