If the mandate of an annual reconsideration was in place

In February 2021, a father was granted full custody of his children. Just four months later, he and his girlfriend began struggling to pay rent. By 2022, they faced the devastating reality of eviction, forcing their children into instability and uncertainty.

If family court had a mandatory annual review of custody decisions, this crisis could have been averted. The courts would have intervened, sparing the children from the chaos and trauma of yet another custody battle. These children deserved better protection and stability in their lives.

(Keep in the mind, custody goes to the parent who the court believes will hold the children's best interest at the forefront. Homelessness is not a child's best interest)
