Reduce the Traffic and Consultation re traffic management in manchester

Reduce the Traffic and Consultation re traffic management in manchester
The Issue
Over the past years Manchester has had a policy of decommissioning about 3/4 of our main Arterial Roads which defies all logic.
1. In the main Manchester traffic management has a policy of vanquishing Cars from the city at the same time as the city council is increasing the amount of flats x10 fold.
2. Manchester traffic management seems confused with the idea of Cafeterization versus traffic flow particularly obvious in Prestwich village. Where the village itself has sufficient capacity and can be opened up visually from Bury new road. Instead we have decommissioned 50% of Bury old road, one of the main artery in and out of Manchester. In the name.
3. Cycle lanes are a joke, they do not need to take out 1/4 of our main arterial roads, constantly posing a risk to the lives of cyclists on these Roads. These cycle lanes can’t be available on every road and should be planned along non Arteial roads and this is a terrible system currently.
4. Bus lanes have de- commissioned another 50% of our roads in parts leading to confusing driver behavior which has seen a massive rise in traffic congestion. This has been our biggest culprit in the gridlock on our Manchester roads.
5. The solution is to de- commission all our bus lanes as did Liverpool city council, who found that the decommissioning of all their bus lanes had no impact on Bus times.
6. Where Arterial roads have bottle necks we should reduce pavements as in Rusholm and Longsight we shouldn’t be looking to further reducing the road capacities as we have been doing.
7. De- commissioning Oxford Road was one of the most Rediculus ideas the city council and the traffic management ever came up with.
it has not improved student life nor traffic flow. A total waste of an opportunity.
8. Princess Street has had a ridiculous attack on its beautiful flow of traffic out of the city centre. This has not improved the flow of traffic in either direction. This was a system that was not broke which got fixed to the detriment of our city.
All new major cities have one way systems in and out of it.
9. The flow of traffic around our city centre in Manchester has seen one of the most Abuse of power. It can now cost an extra £5 to get to central areas in Manchester than it used to.
10. The pollution in the centre can only increase, even with electric cars, as the traffic build upis now maddening. Seeing vehicles meandering around to get from one road to another in our city centre, not to mention trying to get from one side to the other.
I could go on please sign my petition to have a major review and full consultation of the people of Manchester on the traffic management in our city.
