We, the undersigned, reject Maldon District Council's Local Development Plan, for the reasons outlined below
The Issue
PLEASE NOTE THAT DONATIONS TO THIS SITE DO NOT COME DIRECTLY TO SMAG SO PLEASE DO NOT CLICK ON THAT LINK
The Maldon District Local Development Plan will result in 1375 new houses in Maldon mainly on the Wycke Hill area and 1235 new homes in Heybridge in 'garden suburbs'. In total, the Maldon District will have a total of 4,430 new homes within 15 years.
Why is the Development Plan unsound?
- Essex Highways report indicates traffic jams will be 750 cars long in Danbury & Hatfield Peverel with limited or no options to improve
- Increased congestion on roads such as B1022, Wantz Road, Acacia Drive – which have not been properly assessed.
- Lack of buy-in from health providers to improve medical facilities
- Development proposals not addressing any of the current traffic and parking issues in town centre
- Businesses won’t want to locate in congested town
- No railway station in Maldon
- No new Secondary School
- Historic lack of delivery by Council
- Lack of consideration of alternative locations
- Will the promised infrastructure be delivered? - flood defences, schools, GP surgeries, roads etc.
What do we want Maldon District Council to do?
We want Maldon District Council (MDC) to retract the current version of the Local Development Plan (LDP) and submit a revised LDP based on consolidating all the growth in a new settlement near the existing railway
How will signing this petition help?
The Save Maldon Action Group was set up to show the District Council that the residents of Maldon care about their town. Signing this petition will give you a say on the Development Plan.
Petition end date: 30th June 2014
