Right now, Chinchillas are being killed for fur. Because of this, they are currently listed as Critically Endangered. If more people could see just how lovely chinchillas are, there would be more of a stand against the fur industry. Not only this, but all the chinchillas that have owners will be safe.

Chinchillas, while needy, are very good pets. They are soft and playful, but can also be quite shy. 

Chinchillas could not survive in the wild in Australia, as they are very sensitive to a lot of foods, bedding, and temperatures. They would not be able to breed like rabbits or Guinea Pigs, as there simply wouldn't be enough of them alive in the wild.

So, with chinchillas needing to be more noticed by people, and posing no threat to the environment, why are they illegal? Please make chinchillas legal pets in Australia so that they can be given the treatment they deserve, and noticed as cuddly members of the family instead of fashion items.
