Dear supporters,
Yesterday I sent you an update about our crowdfunder. We’ve been amazed by the support we’ve received.

About 800 people have raised over $50 000 already. People are standing up because they want to hold the Australian government accountable for the way that it is treating people on Manus and Nauru.
Most humbling has been the support we’ve received from homeless people in Sydney. Sydney's 24-7 Street Kitchen and Safe Space Community are joining with Mums 4 Refugees to host Carols for Refugees and Homeless in Martin Place on Saturday. They’re going to donate the proceeds to homeless people, and to our fundraiser.
Australia has wasted almost 5 billion dollars detaining people on Manus and Nauru in punishing conditions. Imagine if they’d spent that money on affordable housing. The government should be ashamed by the generosity of homeless people in Sydney.
Carols for the Homeless and Refugees will be held from 4pm at Martin Place in Sydney on Saturday. Acclaimed opera singer Ayşe Göknur Shanal will lead the carols from 6 pm, accompanied by a six foot Steinway grand piano. There will also be free food, and a team of barbers and hairdressers. All are welcome.
To support our work, and help us take legal action against the government’s treatment of asylum seekers, you can donate to our fundraiser.
