The great barrier reef is an Australian icon, Stretching 2300 kilometres, this natural icon is so large it can even be seen from outer space. It is one of the eight natural wonders of the world and deserve's to be treated with respect. Hundreds of tonnes of garbage, and oil from ships that have collided with the reef, that have been spreading around the the area is causing the reef to die, but there is also other reasons such as Over fishing which is also helping to create the landslide and there is very little being done. The Great Barrier Reef is home to over 1625 types of fish, 133 varieties of sharks and rays, and more than 30 species of whales and dolphins. With your help we can make sure that there is a reef for the next generation to see and we can make sure that one of Australia's Biggest icons survive's for a long time forward.

Not only is the great Barrier Reef an Australian icon it is also the worlds largest Reef. it consists of 2,900 reefs, and is located in the coral sea just of the coast of Queensland.
