Does Dual Citizenship Matter?

The issue raised is does dual citizenship (ie having or being able to get a second passport from a different country) matter. Generally this will happen as a result of someone's heritage (parent or grandparents) or marital status. Sorting out the paperwork makes no difference to this. If a member of parliament has an XYZ background, then it is likely that in dealing with matters of our relationships with XYZ they will bring a different perspective and outlook. The paperwork (ie citizenship) does not change that, it is the background that would be the issue. There is no suggestion that Barnaby Joyce has favoured New Zealand, or the Jacqui Lambie has prejudiced Australia's interests in favour of Scotland. The Netherlands, I believe has a stand of dual citizenship, and for the most part they prefer their citizens to be Dutch or Not Dutch. But that is for all citizens, not just for some. The principle of one rule for all makes perfect sense to me.
