On the press conference subsequent to the latest bilateral leader retreat between Malaysia and Singapore, PM Dr Mahathir mentioned the ongoing MRT/RTS will be suspended.

We the people of the Malaysia, would like to petition for the Putrajaya to rethink the suspension and resume on the RTS project as soon as possible.

It's widely known that the Woodlands Checkpoint is one of the world busiest checkpoints between two countries. Hundreds of thousands of travellers going through the checkpoint on a daily basis. All travelers have been suffering from the unavoidable jam and we need immediate as well as permanent solutions to ease the congestion.

We believe all travelling modalities should be explored in solving the congestion. This includes continuing the RTS project, on top of improving hardware infrastructure at the CIQ. Other creative solutions should also be looked into, including commencement of ferry services that Hong Kong has been using at the Victoria Harbour. Building of sheltered walkway across the causeway should be looked into as well.

However, the RTS service appeared to be the best long term solution at the moment. We believe at the capacity of 10000 passengers per hour for each direction, it will significantly ease the congestion and reduce the need to travel into Singapore with either motorcycles or cars.

We the Rakyat of Malaysia see easing the congestion as top priority. Other potential impact, such as having the project benefitting particular party, is not really to our concern. We hope Putrajaya, the government of Malaysia, listen to her people!
