Farah Harith started this petition to Malaysian government and

This is a call for the Malaysian Government to work towards making it illegal for people to breed cats and dogs for profit. The problem of strays in Malaysia is not going to solve itself. While it is commendable that there are groups going around feeding strays, there is an urgent need to educate people on the importance of adopting instead of purchasing cats and dogs. If the government is able to enact a law to ban irresponsible people from breeding cats and dogs for profit, those wanting to get cats or dogs as pets will have no choice but to adopt. If such a law is enacted, people will be more aware of the existence of cat and dog shelters and this will help towards reducing the number of strays. The sale of cats and dogs are becoming increasingly easy in this day and age of social media. People are willing to fork out thousands of ringgit to purchase cats and dogs. If this trade is banned, efforts to create awareness on adopting pets will become easier. If you are an animal lover, or even if you're not, help sign this petition because everytime someone buys a cat or a dog, a stray remains homeless.
