The Issue

As a long-standing resident of Savannah for over a decade, it's disheartening that I have to travel out of town to find a dog-friendly beach. A beloved part of our coastal community is inaccessible for responsible dog owners who wish to bring their furry companions to the beach, even during off-season. There is currently no space allocated on Tybee Island for dog owners to responsibly enjoy the beach with their pets (with the exception of their teeny tiny dog park that they are oh so proud of). This is despite having an extremely well-funded police department capable of regulating and fining irresponsible dog owners as necessary. The absence of a dog-friendly beach segment means the local economy loses out as Tybee and Savannah residents alike depart out of town to cater to their pets' needs. It's time for a change: Tybee Island should adapt to being more dog-friendly. Sign this petition to show the Council of Tybee Island that the community wants a friendly space for our four-legged friends.
