We continue to stand for allowing the research and the proposals on the future of our community to come forward. We believe that our citizens deserve the full picture of what is possible in terms of attainability and affordability, delivered by expert review. The planning commission is still considering options, and we believe the community deserves to see what is possible through a fair, transparent lens.
Tonight, there will be a council meeting. Because we believe in the civic and democratic processes—and because we have shared our view that our community needs to collectively and thoughtfully engage in conversations about how to make more options available to more people—we have not organized a collective speaking presence at today's meeting. We respect our city staff's time and believe in meaningful engagement rather than overtaking a conversation when our issues are not on the agenda. We do, however, encourage our supporters to attend the meeting to witness and remain informed. The meeting can be viewed in person at 6 PM in the Municipal Building or online here: https://www.facebook.com/CityofPrairieVillage
Critically, we also encourage folks to email their council members immediately, urging them and the planning commission to consider ALL recommendations on the table for attainability, affordability, diversity, and inclusion. We ask them to uphold our right to civic and democratic processes that allow our entire community to review research, ask questions, and engage in dialogue based on facts.
We stand against "stopping" the process based on conjecture, anecdotes, and unsupported opinions. Information on how to contact the council can be found here: https://prairievillage4all.com/get-involved/
In the coming days, we'll share more on how to stay engaged, get involved, get informed, and connect. As always, visit our website to learn more: www.prairievillage4all.com
