This past week, the planning commission decided to pause consideration of R1 and R2 zones and return to them at a later date in part, they said, because of how divisive the outcry from opponents has been to them considering all the options on the table. This is potentially a step back. That means, they are limiting their conversation right now based on the opinions of those who don't want to see Prairie Village become more attainable, affordable, and diverse. We cannot let opponents to affordability and attainability in PV thwart the civic and democratic process for our city.
But, we're gaining support every day. We'll be encouraging the commission to consider all the options fairly and transparently and based on research, as they were charged to do and to bring all options forward for public consideration, open community discussion, and voting. Now is the time to get involved.
