Make the “Nike MAG” shoe-line PERMANENT!

The Issue

“Power laces! Alright!” -Marty McFly

In the beloved movie “Back to the Future 2” we are introduced to a brand new pair of shoes by Nike®. These new shoes had “power-lace” technology in the film; That meant they can tie themselves!

Even though it was a practical effect, everybody wanted these shoes! Eventually, an idea was realized! Tinker Hatfield, the original designer of the shoes, worked with fellow footwear innovator Tiffany Beers on creating the “Nike MAG” shoe. After roughly 6 years, the perfect replicas were finally finished!

In 2011 1,500+ pairs were sold via auctions and the proceeds were dedicated to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s disease research. The total funds from these auctions were about US $4.7 MILLION dollars!* This was MATCHED (US $9.4 MILLION)* by co-founder of Google Sergey Brin and his wife.

These shoes were near perfect… however, there was one thing that these shoes did not have… The power-lace technology. (Which was not invented yet…)

On October 21, 2015, which is Back to the Future day, Nike® revealed a new version of the Nike MAG that DID have self-lacing capabilities! October 4, 2016 opened a raffle to this shoe, and the proceeds were once again, VERY profitable for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s disease research.

This shoe is an INCREDIBLE collectable being worth THOUSANDS of dollars, but being such an expensive collectable makes it difficult to acquire… There IS however, a solution:

Make the “Nike MAG” shoe-line PERMANENT!

  1.  If there were a permanent line of Nike MAG power-lace shoes, it would be VERY profitable for Nike® considering all the people who wanted a pair of the original Nike MAG lines when they came out.
  2.  It could be a permanent charity having a portion of all sales go toward The Michael J. Fox Foundation. (Similar to “Tom’s” shoe brand.)
  3.  It wouldn’t decrease the value of the original lines as those would now be categorized as original-collectables.

4a. Considering the MASSIVE following the BTTF franchise has, many cosplayers of Marty McFly will likely seek out these shoes for authenticity!

4b. These cosplayers will likely wear these shoes to popular conventions. This would drum up publicity for the shoes AND the company!

These shoes have potential! They shouldn’t be restricted to anyone who isn’t rich! These shoes can GREATLY increase Nike’s profits as well as GREATLY benefit Michael J. Fox’s foundation!

Let’s keep the shoes going! Let this be yet another brilliant legacy Back to the Future leaves us with!

LET’S GO GET SOME BACK TO THE FUTURE SHOES AND CURE PARKINSON’S DISEASE!!!
