It's that time of year again: International Save the Vaquita Day. This Saturday, August 12 marks the 10th year of this global event dedicated to the world's most endangered marine species, the vaquita porpoise: https://www.customink.com/fundraising/istvd-2023

To support our efforts with an official ISTVD 2023 t-shirt, please click the link above. While this species has dwindled to around a dozen individuals remaining, there is newfound reason for hope: nearly 200 concrete blocks with hooks have been placed on the seafloor of the vaquita's habitat, deterring much of the gillnet fishing that has threatened this species with extinction for decades. Additionally, the most recent vaquita survey documented approximately 13 individuals, including 1-2 healthy calves, more than was seen in the 2021 survey. This news has revitalized the community's optimism for this species, and your support will allow us to continue our work advocating for the vaquita.
