We the community of St. Olaf College would like to declare itself a sanctuary campus/institution. This declaration means that St. Olaf will not use any of its resources and funds to turn over undocumented immigrants to federal authorities. In addition, it declares that the students, faculty, and staff of St. Olaf College will be protected from arrest, detainment, surveillance, searches, and interviews. An I.C.E. memo allows for institutions to become sanctuaries, so it is perfectly legal.
