Shoppers Drug Mart (hereafter referred to as SDM) operates a very generous and very easy loyalty points program entitled "Shoppers Optimum Points". Members receive points on every transaction made at SDM and can redeem their points at certain levels for free merchandise. Furthermore, SDM Optimum members may obtain both a SDM MasterCard as well as a Royal Bank Optimum Savings Account to earn further points.

SDM provides it's Optimum members the opportunity to monitor, maintain and make changes to their Optimum account on the SDM website. To login, they simply need their membership number and very little else in order to login.

This login process is not secure and does not utilize SSL technology to protect information entered during the login process, thus making it vunerable to hacking and abuse.

We, the undersigned, are current or former members of the SDM Optimum Program who utilize the online system provided by SDM for management of our SDM Optimum accounts.

Further, we kindly request that SDM upgrade their internet systems and implement immediately a Secure Socket Layer protection to the information contained in the Optimum Program database.
