Petition updateMake Seafair Sustainable and Safe for All - It’s Time for Change 3 things to do from anywhere to end the Blue Angels

hey all-

This is the sound of war, so awful to be reminded. When talking about this with others, I hear “But it’s always been this way” - actually no, it hasn’t! When did we see the Blue Angels and more military appear? When the military draft was soon after coming to an end during a deeply unpopular war. We can reimagine this event to be inclusive to all and peacefully celebrating our city and the summer—as it was meant to be originally --as a water festival and celebrating the city being a sea town. This event is now 75, so let’s revisit the roots and reimagine our future—change is always possible.

Three ways to help right to have this year be the last year of the Blue Angels.

  1. on social media?  Check out @airshowclimateactionseattle on Instagram and Facebook for more actions coming up - and share this great op-ed that ran yesterday on that page and searchable via this title on the Seattle Times website:  Let’s honor the past but bid farewell to the Blue Angels | The Seattle Times
  2. use this picture (great block print art from the Saturday picnic protest that fellow organizers put together!):  share it in email and on social media, change your profile picture if you want--we can show the visibility for the call to change
  3. set a reminder to call and email the City of Seattle's Office of Special Events tomorrow!
