Billy's Story Dogs Are Often Stolen For Bait By Dogfighters

I am resending this out in the hope that others will read Billys story

My name was Billy. I Iived with a lovely family Mum Dad Becky and Ben their children, they were my best friends. Then one day, when I was in the garden playing with my toys two big men, came through the gate, they had a chicken treat and I went over to investigate, they grabbed me and bundled me into a white vehicle. It had lots of crates in the back and other dogs.

The vehicle stank of fear and urine, I was shaking with shock and confusion. They took me to a big garage piled high with cages with other dogs that were also frightened. What had we done wrong to deserve this?

I was there for two days with only a bucket of foul water, I was very hungry and afraid and missing my family terribly. The men came for me on the second day and drove me to an old warehouse, then they put a chain on me and led me inside. It smelt of blood and fear. the chain rattled constantly because I was shaking so badly.

I was taken inside a circular enclosure with some more men watching from the sidelines. At the other side of the enclosure was, a terrifying dog snarling and growling at me. it had a muzzle and a chain and a man holding it back, I had nowhere to hide and was almost paralysed with fear. They removed the muzzle and goaded the dog pointing at me. Then to my horror, they let it off. I now sit patiently at rainbow bridge waiting for my family to come and get me. Why do people do this, and why are pets like me made to suffer?

PS. I think I need to point out that Billy was not my dog. I heard about Billy's fate a few years back whilst researching the upsurge of dogfighting in the UK, and decided to add it into my petition to change the laws on dog theft

The owners were informed by a friend what had happened to Billy who was killed that day in a ring. The problem is these gangs of dog-fighters are very violent and people are afraid to confront them. I had to change the children's name because of fear of a backlash. People do live in fear of these horrendous people.
