Pancreatic cancer doesn’t leave much room for hope—it has one of the deadliest survival rates in Canada. But for patients, the real fight isn’t just against the disease—it’s against a healthcare system where your chances of survival depend on your postal code.

First Sneak Peek - #WeAreCanadaToo

That’s why Petition e-5186 exists. It’s about levelling the playing field so every Canadian with pancreatic cancer, no matter where they live, gets the chance to fight. Today, our fight moved forward. The petition, led by The Heather Cutler Foundation, has been officially authorized by the Honourable Seamus O’Regan, MP for St. John’s South—Mount Pearl and Minister of Labour. Next stop: review by the Clerk of Petitions.

What We’re Fighting For

This petition lays out real solutions to close the gaps in Canada’s healthcare system:

 • Standardized Testing: National genetic and somatic testing guidelines so patients everywhere can get the answers they need.

 • Fair Trial Access: Help with travel, lodging, and other costs to make clinical trials available to everyone—not just those in major cities.

 • Faster Drug Approvals: Treatments like Onivyde can’t take years to reach patients.

 • Decentralized Trials: Bring trials closer to home, so care isn’t tied to your postal code.

Announcing our Hashtag: #WeAreCanadaToo

Once the review by the Clerk of Petitions is finished, the petition will go live on OurCommons.ca. For the 120 days this petition is open, we’re standing behind one message: #WeAreCanadaToo. It’s a reminder that pancreatic cancer patients in every corner of this country deserve the same chance to fight—not just those in Canada’s urban provinces.
