185,000 signatures! The government is now seriously thinking about HECS reform

I wanted to say thank-you to every one of you for signing and sharing this petition.

For those who don't know me, I'm Dr Monique Ryan, the Independent Member for Kooyong. 

It's been a busy week. Our HECS petition has broken records, becoming the largest cost-of-living change.org survey ever in Australia. And I can tell you that this petition has been noticed at the highest levels of government. 

I met with the Education Minister this week, and gave him the petition in person, urging him to do something to fix HECS debt in the upcoming Budget. 

I know that we've made a real difference with this petition. It would be a brave government that sees 185,000 people sign a petition - then ignores them. 

If we keep sharing the petition in the six weeks until the Budget, and the signatures keep going up, we will give the government no choice but to finally fix HECS.
