I want to express our appreciation for so many people who have signed this petition that has the very real possibility of becoming a federal crime to kill a cat or dog for human consumption.

This is the craziest to know our G20 country continues to permit anyone in Canada to deliberately perform an immensely heinous act of killing.

On another objective, we are waiting to hear back from British Columbia's MLA Jagrup Brar on his position of strengthening the Province's Animal Welfare Laws...namely the mandatory spay/neuter of all dogs and cats by the age of 2 years...and the licensing of all persons breeding dogs and cats.

We have been in contact with his office since April 2018 and it has become a bit disconcerting to repeatedly ask for MLA Brar's position without reply. I have personally spoken with members of his office but still no direct contact with MLA Brar. After almost one year, I worry that our MLA is not taking the welfare of animals seriously.

I have secured the support of key speakers in Puerto Rico that have provided me original drafts of their collaborative proposed legislation in that state. These persons have been directly working with the Governor's Office and Humane Society International (HSI).

With their full permission, I provided copies to MLA Brar's assistant.

I hope to post our next update with at least a comment from MLA Brar. Fingers crossed...on behalf of almost 20 million domesticated dogs and cats in Canada...
