Update: Safer Streets Campaign Gains Momentum in Irondequoit

Thank you to the 216 people who have signed our petition calling on the Town of Irondequoit to adopt a 25 MPH speed limit on town-controlled roads! Your support helps demonstrate that safer neighborhood streets are a community concern worth addressing. Our goal is to reach at least 1,000 signatures, so while we've got a way to go, we've made good progress towards that number.

Since launching the petition, Walk Bike Irondequoit (WBI) has been working to move this effort forward in several ways:

Engaging Town officials: We've met with Town officials to discuss the proposal, its potential safety benefits, and practical approaches to implementation.
Building statewide momentum: We're part of a growing statewide effort bringing together communities advocating for 25 MPH neighborhood speed limits.
Advocating for safer public spaces: We're also urging the Town to prioritize pedestrian safety, accessibility, and other public-realm improvements through its NY Forward grant process.
