The Third Party Administrator for CIGNA has sent me a letter of subrogation in the mail, which I received today for services at the surgical center in the amount of $43,631.45. For those of you that don't know, a letter of subrogation is a letter that the insurance company expects the patient to fill out claiming that they have had an accident, so that the insurance company can go after a third-party to collect the money that they pay out for services rendered to the patient, so they suffer no loss of funds. It's a game to them.
I don't understand how they can deem two autoimmune diseases an accident. So now, I'm probably going to have to jump through fiery hoops to get them to pay their portion of my surgical bill. This is the kind of thing that I need people to realize as far as what is happening with insurance companies, and this is why I am begging you to sign this petition. These companies need to stop stressing people out over their bills, and pay for the services that they are supposed to pay for. Patients are under enough stress as it is, because of their illnesses, injuries, or conditions. This was no injury, and I should not have to go through the stress of worrying about whether or not the insurance company is going to pay this bill. Please… I implore you, sign this petition and show your support.
Also, please keep in mind...my surgery was done on an outpatient basis, and under CIGNA's policy, there is no precertification necessary for surgery that is done on an outpatient basis. So if that is their policy, why would I be getting a letter of subrogation? They just don't want to pay the bill. This fight is getting better and better!
