Cruelty towards the man's best friend is still going on, dogs are being killed, relocated and as usual the municipal corporations and the govt is absolutely blind to it, no corrective measures are being taken by them to stop all this
But all this anti dog environment and hostility has not dampened the spirit of the caregivers of India, they have not given up and are doing everything possible for their furry friends
On 22nd Dec CGS Hospital carried out a free rabies vaccination drive for the community dogs residing in and around Lodi Gardens, the heart of Delhi
The caregiver Mala along with another caregiver Kavita picked up each dog and got them vaccinated
To watch how the dogs are vaccinated by these two lovely ladies kindly go on the link below:

Mala is a senior citizen but she picked up each dog in her arm and got them vaccinated
In all she got around 50 dogs vaccinated, 40 at Lodi Gardens and 10 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium
Mala has been feeding the dogs for 16 years now and has got more than 60 dogs sterilized
Some from the corporation and the rest from her own pocket
She recently saw a lot of unsterilized dogs at the residential colony at Lodi Road
The residents are all govt employees who don't seen to be bothered and the municipal corporation as usual is sleeping
The corporation wakes up once they receive a dog complaint of biting, barking, chasing etc from the residents and the way the dogs are multiplying in this colony the day is not far when the corporation will receive a complaint
To avoid such a situation to erupt Mala is trying her best to get the dogs sterilized, but till now she has no luck because neither the corporation is taking her seriously nor the NGOs who run the ABC units
They are all passing the buck on each other
Corporation takes immediate action when there is a dog complaint but when a caregiver asks for dog steriization the corporation becomes dumb and delays action
Free rabies vaccination drive was the duty of the corporations but unfortunately they have failed both the community dogs and their caregivers. CGS hospital which has no stake in the govt or in the implementation of ABC program has n its own has started getting the stray dogs of Delhi NCR vaccinated since 2020 with the help and support of the caregivers. Till now they have vaccinated around 3000 dogs. Hats off to them and their management who have started the way forward in getting India canine rabies free.
It's winter time in India and Delhi NCR is very cold
To fight the cold winter season the caregivers put beddings and blankets to make their furry friends warm and comfortable
Some also buy warm coats and jackets and put it on them
The House of Stray Animal an animal shelter in Noida donated warm winter jackets as christmas gift to the community dogs of Delhi NCR.
Till now they have distributed 2311 jackets in three phases.
The caregivers were invited to pick up the jackets from them for their furry friends
What a wonderful way to celebrate christmas, a festival of togetherness, kindness and joy
We are coming to a close of this year where we lost many of our voiceless friends due to human cruelty and apathy
Let's hope and pray the coming new year 2023 brings happiness, peace and good health to one and all
