India which has always advocated non violence, peace and compassion is today hit by the world's ugliest covid pandemic. Each day is like a nightmare for Indians. There is not a single individual who has not been affected directly or indirectly by this pandemic.
Many are saying that this is all the result of our karma. India the holy land has been soiled with blood. Blood of innumerable innocent animals. Tiger is the national animal of India but inspite of that Avni the tigress was mercilessly killed and her cubs died mysteriously in the state of Maharashtra. The people behind this crime never got punished. In Hinduism tiger is considered the vehicle of Goddess Durga. The Godess who is worshipped in almost every household of India. A pregnant elephant was bombarded in the state of Kerala. She died after suffering tremendous pain in the water. A pregnant cow was made to eat bomb in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Luckily she survived. Hundreds of Neel gai (blue cow) were bulldozed alive that too on official orders. Imagine the kind of painful death given to them. The ministry of environment declared monkeys vermin in the state of Himachal Pradesh and ordered to kill them. Hanuman a monkey God in Hinduism is revered across India. There are Hanuman temples almost in every colony of India but the state of monkey the animal nowadays is not good. They are hounded away and even beaten. Needless to say that not a day goes by when a dog is not killed in the name of rabies, cleanliness or just for fun on the streets of India. Dog is the vehicle and companion of Lord Bhairon the ferocious form of Lord Shiva. If we really believe in our Gods and Goddesses then one thing is for sure that they are really angry with us. Have we made the Indian Gods angry by our evil deeds? Is Covid the wrath of Gods and Goddesses?
God knows why we go to the temples when what we preach and what we do are not in sync......
Worship Hanuman but kill monkey
Worship Bhairon but kill dog
Worship Durga but kill tiger
Worship Ganesha (God with the head of an elephant) but kill elephant
It's not just animals but also forests and trees which have been mercilessly chopped off in the recent past in the name of development. Aarey forest is one of recent examples in the state of Maharashtra.
Hundreds of trees were chopped off inspite of huge protests by the environmentalists. There was an entire eco system which got badly affected: Trees, birds and animals. God knows what kind of development have our leaders envisioned for us? Because by what is happening India does not seem to be developing. This is a lop sided, human centric development which will only lead us to more of such covid pandemics in the future. And this holds true for all the nations of the world. The world leaders have to redefine their paths towards development.
Animals and plants sans humans shall thrive on this planet but Humans sans plants and animals will only perish on this planet
Any development which harms the flora and fauna of a country will eventually also harm it's human inhabitants. The policymakers and the leaders have to know this basic truth.

Will the animal welfare departments and the ministry's atleast now work towards the welfare of the animals of India.
The least they can do is feed the animals dying on the streets of India in the absence of their caregivers as many of them are either themselves affected by this pandemic or their family members, friends and neighbours are affected by it.
Who knows by feeding the voiceless they might please the angry God's and receive their forgiveness.
