The Usmanpur ABC centre in East Delhi is yet again in news. This time again for all wrong reasons. A dog which they had picked up for sterilization is dead. The caregiver wanted his dead body back but the centre did not give him the body. They said it's their policy not to return the dead body.

Well it's a policy to hide their mistakes and negligence. How come a healthy dog who was being fed by his caregiver dies so mysteriously within three days in the centre?

A postmortem of the body should have been carried out.

Anyhow an animal right activist and a caregiver Shakul Bhalla went to the center and spoke to the in charge there. Shakul Bhalla and his friends had unveiled this killer centre and their misdeeds few days back when two male dogs were dropped back post sterilization in a very bad state. Their stitches were open and their testicles swollen.

A similar case happened last year in the month of June.

Just how long will this centre carry on with killings in the name of sterilization?

The incharge of the centre told Shakul that the dogs often sustain injuries and their stitches open because of dog fights.

Now how absurd is that.

Even if the dogs lynch each other then also it is the fault of the centre. Why have they not made separate kennels for the dogs? Why do they give them a chance to attack each other?

A caregiver Shanti (M +918929307936) of Mayur Vihar has posted the following today on the animal group:

"Kal friendicose ki vav ayegi for strelistion apne dog bej dijiye; 8-10 ke pass time"

The message says that tomorrow Friendicoes van for sterilization shall be coming between 8 to 10. Please send your dogs.

Friendicoes  runs an ABC centre in Gazipur. And it often sends it's van on the request of caregivers to pick up dogs.

Isn't this a great way of getting the dogs sterilized?

This not only helps the ABC centre and the dog catchers in identifying the unsterilized dogs and getting them caught easily but also gives the caregivers the mental peace that their dogs are in safe hands and they wont get relocated. And once the dogs are released back the caregivers take good care of them.

Also Gazipur centre run by Friendicoes is quite trustworthy. The staff there is cordial and it welcomes the caregivers who pay a visit to the centre to check on their dogs. Many times caregivers themselves drop the dogs for sterilization.

That's the way ABC centres should be running in India.

It seems the management running the Usmanpur Centre are just interested in numbers. The number of sterilizations they have done. They are least bothered about the life of dog.

Such centres should be shut down immediately.  Shakul in his video has very rightly said that the dogs who have caregivers still have a chance to survive after they are left by such killer centres to die on the street with swollen testicles and open stitches because their caregivers might get them medical help but what about those dogs who don't have caregivers?

Also the dog who died during sterilization had a caregiver who went to the centre to know about his whereabouts but just how many dogs have caregivers who visit centres to know about their whereabouts?

So what happens to them? They die silently without anyone's knowledge either on the streets post sterilization or in the centre during sterilization.

Wasn't poisoning, killing, burning and crushing them under the vehicles enough for we humans that now we are taking their lives  even in the name of sterilization.
