IIT Madras caregivers comprising of students and professors have a Facebook page which tells about the cruel tactics the IIT Madras administration has been using to stop them from feeding the dogs of the campus. The Facebook post of 17th October talks about how the administration caged the dogs of the campus and stopped the caregivers from meeting them and feeding them. They didn't only stop to that. The caregivers were both physically and verbally abused by the security personnel by the orders of the administration. It has also been reported that few dogs who were already sterilised have gone missing along with a  sick dog and a blind dog. Is this how a centre of learning should be?

After huge protest by the categivers the administation designated only 5 feeding areas for dogs. This was for an area which spreads into 250 hectare. Along with this they had banned feeding home cooked food to dogs.  The dogs were only to be  given pelleted dog food.

It was only after the intervention of Chennai wildlife warden and Blue Cross that the designated feeding areas were increased from 5 to 14 and the dogs were allowed to be given home cooked food because dry food given for long period of time causes kidney failure.

A centre which breaks animal laws, tortures animals and harasses its own students and teachers doesn't deserve to be a learning centre.

Tryphena duddley has started a petition in protest of this most barbaric behaviour of the administration. The petition is addressed to Maneka Gandhi (Member of Parliament),  Animal Welfare Board of India, Blue Cross, Peta, Peta India and IIT Madras.
