Amit Sehgal who runs an animal welfare NGO, Jeev Aashraya in Lucknow  (capital of Uttar Pradesh) talks about his sheer helplessness in getting a pet dog justice.

Imagine a man who has been running an NGO for animals for the last 10 years had to surrender to the high and mighty of the state who blatantly flouted animal laws and unfortunately the law enforcement agencies too sided with the wrongdoer..

Animals in the state of Uttar Pradesh have no value at all. Lawlessness in animal welfare sector plagues the state of Uttar Pradesh.

According to Amit he received a complaint from a volunteer about a Dalmatian dog who was tied to a tree in a public park for past several days. Amit went to rescue the dog. There he came to know that the dog is a pet of a high profile doctor (Dr Sachan) who runs a famous hospital and a medical college in Lucknow. The dog was around 10 years old and was kept outside in a public park right in front of the doctor's house. He seemed fine with no signs of dehydration or loose motions. However, the dog was paralyzed from the back and could not walk without human support. As per prevention of cruelty to animals act, pet owners are not suppose to keep their pets in such inhuman conditions. The dog was kept in a hot summer outside in the park tied to a tree that too in sickness. What can be more cruel and barbaric than this. That too by a medical doctor who is running his own hospital and a college in the capital city of Uttar Pradesh.

Amit insisted that the dog be kept in a more comfortable place inside the house and the guards of the doctor took the dog in. But the very next day Amit came to know that the dog died. Amit obviously sensed something fishy and wanted the post mortem to be done but a team of police were called by the doctor and Amit was taken into custody. He was humiliated by the police and was told why to create so much rukus over a dog's death. Anyway the police would have definitely pressed charges of tress passing into the doctors house against Amit had not the former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi  intervened and rescued Amit from the clutches of the corrupt system.

Amit is quite disheartened and  feels helpless. He did everything possible to help the poor soul but there a terrible nexus between the rich and the powerful with the govt machinery in the capital city of Uttar Pradesh. Imagine a doctor who runs a hospital and a medical college can be so inhuman towards his own pet and then he .uses a battery of policeman to threaten the person who was trying to help the voiceless within the domain of the animal welfare laws.   To listen to the entire story of the poor Dalmatian pet from Amit who tried his best to save his life and give him a more comfortable life had to ultimately surrender to the corrupt system. This is not all, in Noida which comes under the state of Uttar Pradesh and is a part of Delhi NCR incidents of sterilized dogs being picked up illegally by the orders of the officials of the Noida authority animal shelter have been reported. Tbis is being done to please some of the RWAs of Noida. Corrupt officials who have no respect for animal laws. They are the legal custodians of stray dogs and see what they are doing to please the high and mighty of their state. Flouting rules and getting the stray dogs relocated. If the officers are indulging in such malpractices then what can be expected from a common man of Uttar Pradesh.

Kindly go on the following link to read about the corrupt practices of Noida animal authorities:

This is nothing new in Utrar Pradesh. We have seen how in the recent past Ghaziabad has played havoc on the caregivers and the dogs and they are doing still.

Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh wake up before it's too late. Replace anarchy with law and order in your state which seems to have gone for a spin.
