The national capital Delhi and the financial capital Mumbai have learnt nothing from their counterparts in other states such as Bengaluru, Indore, Cochin etc.....

Their attitude towards the caregivers / dog feeders and the man's best friend is quite the same. Rather it's become worse. Lockdown means more harassment and torture for them.

The stray animals especially the dogs are being fed by individual people and the NGOs. There is no govt support either in Mumbai or in Delhi for  feeding the stray animals.

To make things worse the feeders are being harassed for feeding.

Let's first look into the Mumbai city:

Nothing can be more shameful than what happened on 19 th April 2020 in the city of Mumbai. A lady tried to lodge a complaint against the people who killed a stray dog but instead the Mumbai police booked her for flouting the lockdown as her area had been declared a containment zone. In another incident  a pet dog died because his owners were denied  an e pass for taking him to a vet. They applied for an e pass thrice and all three times the pass got rejected.

The pet owners of the city are saying that they have been facing problem from their own neighbours and residents for having dogs as pets.

The vet and their staff are not being allowed to go to their clinics.

The feeders are being harassed for feeding the stray dogs.

The situation in Delhi is not rosy either. Two dog feeders: Megha Singh (M- 8527643857) and  Rahul Negi (M- 9910776938) staying in East Delh,i Lakshmi Nagar are constantly being harassed by a medical doctor Charu Lata.

Today also while they were feeding they had an altercation with the doctor. To know how Megha and Rahul are harassed everyday by the doctor kindly go on the link below:

They say doctors are life saviours and are next to God. And during the COVID 19 Pandemic it only proves that they are indeed God sent angels on this Earth.

But what shall we call doctors like Charu Lata? Neither she feeds the dogs herself who live on her street nor she allows others to feed.

In another incident in North Delhi a dog feeder was mobbed for feeding the stray dogs. The problem with these people is that they themselves don't feed the dogs and when someone else feed the dogs they stop them from feeding. They are basically dog haters who want the dogs to just disappear.

Guwahati  is the capital city of Assam but it seems that the city has lost all humanity. A pet owner was stopped by the police while he was taking his ailing dog to a vet. The unfortunate dog is no more. For details kindly go on the link below:

Whose fault is it? Why are the dogs being abandoned? Why are they being killed and poisoned? Why are the police in Mumbai and Guwahati harassing the caregivers and the dog feeders? Why are doctors like Charulata and other dog haters are constanly making the life of the dogs and the dog feeders a hell?

Feeding of stray animals and veterinary  services has been made as essential services during the lockdown period. But does it look like in Mumbai, Delhi and Guwahati? The police seems unaware and people like Charulata just don't know anything in spite of being a doctor herself

Let's see what might be the reason for such apathy towards dogs and their caregivers in these cities.

1 The Municipal Corporation of Mumbai had put huge hoardings right at the outbreak of COVID- 19 in India that dogs and cats spread the virus to humans. They removed it later but they already did the damage. They poisoned the minds of people of Mumbai against the man's best friend. And till date they have issued no public notice telling people of Mumbai that dogs do not spread the virus. And that feeding and vet services are an essential service during the lockdown.

2 Delhi administration and the corporation have no match at all when it comes to treating the man's best friend and it's feeders. Dr Charu Lata is a resident of East Delhi. This is the part of Delhi where the councillors had illegally made a decision to relocate the dogs into shelters, which is against the Dog rules 2001. On top of it the east Delhi municipal corporaion has only poisoned the minds of the people against the dogs by putting obnoxious and misleading rabies posters that too for past three years. Has the corporation of Delhi issued public notice which says that dogs and cats do not spread COVID 19 or feeding dogs and vet services are essential services during lockdown?  The answer is no.

3 The national television DD National was running a video and a poster which clearly said that do not cone in direct contact with live animals. And in it's poster it showed  the pic of a dog. Now it is no longer showing the poster or the video but the damage has already been made. Why hasn't DD national come out with a video or a poster which says that dogs and cats do not spread COVID 19? Why hasn't it rectified the error it had made.

What about the television  media? Very few of them are  covering the woes and pains of the stray animals and the good work the NGOs and the individual feeders are doing during these trying times.

While the doctors, nurses, health workers, policemen and journalists are being called COVID 19 warriors but what about the animal feeders and the NGOs who are working day and night in trying to keep the starving animals alive? That too with their own personal funds.

Many of them are being mobbed and abused and still they are not detered from helping the voiceless. Aren't they warriors? Only those who are working for safety of we humans are real warriors?

It's a real shame that even during these trying times neither the govt machinery nor the media has acknowledged their selfless service towards humanity.
