On 27th December 2019 in the city of Dewas which is in the state of Madhya Pradesh the municipal corporation has in a very brutal and torturous manner picked up stray dogs inspite of the objections made by the residents and the caregivers of the area.

The dogs in Dewas are being picked up in the most brutal manner and relocated. No one knows where they are taken.

They are taken never to come back.

This is not only inhuman but also illegal. As  per the Supreme Court order which is the highest court of India the stray dogs cannot be removed from their place of birth. They can only be picked up for the purpose of Sterilization and then dropped back in the same location.

Relocation, removal or killing of dogs is a punishable offence.

The responsibility of sterilization lies with the municipal corporation of every state of India. But are all the corporations doing their duty with full honesty and integrity? The answer is no.

The people who run the corporations are the mayors and the commissioners. They are government representatives and nothing happens without their order.

Who gave the orders of relocation of dogs in Dewas?

Why isn't the municipal corporation of Dewas not implementing the ABC programme in their area for the stray dogs?

The Commissioner and the Mayor  of Dewas are responsible for breaking the law.

The caregiver of Dewas were smart enough to have captured the entire incident of corporation brutality in their camera. Please watch the video and think what kind of commissioners and mayors India is having. These are govt representatives.

One understands when an ordinary man breaks the law out of ignorance but what would you say when commissioners and mayors break the law?

Will they be punished and put behind bars? All the caregivers in unison will say yes. They should without any doubt.

Unfortunately majority of the commissioners and mayors are doing just that in India. And no action is being taken against them.

The municipal corporation seems to be a hopeless body and it's time the central govt takes measures to remove the corporation and replace it with some other nodal agency which can carry out the ABC programme in a more humane and legal manner. Which does not break laws and taps in the caregivers in the process of Sterilization and vaccination. Which creates awareness about the dog behaviour and dog laws among the Indian citizens and makes India canine rabies free.
